About the Shannons 2020 AEHF Cooma Nationals
The Shannons 2020 AEHF Cooma Nationals will be held in Cooma from the 28th of December 2020 to
the 1st of January 2021.
It is expected that some 180 to 250 cars will be entered for the Nationals from all over
Australia, bringing a huge influx of car enthusiasts and visitors and provide a large benefit to
Cooma and regional businesses.
The Show and Shine at the Cooma showgrounds will be a focal point for viewing the entrants
vehicles with other days set aside for runs throughout the Region.
The 2020 Nationals are being run by the FX-FJ Car Club of Canberra Inc. and the Cooma
Monaro Historic Automobile Club Inc. (The Cooma Car Club). The FX-FJ Car Club of
Canberra committee are managing any AEHF issues while both clubs meet regularly to plan
the national title event. A number of the committee are members of both clubs.
The Nationals which were first held during April 1977 in Sydney followed in December of
the same year in Tumut NSW. Now the Nationals are held every two years in various
locations throughout Australia. All modified or stock Holden FX and FJ vehicles are
The Holden FX, (formally known as the Holden 48-215) was manufactured by General
Motors Holden between November 1948 and October 1953. Development of the 48-215
began in 1944 based on a design that was originally penned in the United States by
Chevrolet. The term FX came into common use later to describe models with a new
telescopic shock absorber front suspension introduced in 1953. The FJ followed and was
based on the 48-215 series. Its design broadly followed the silhouette of its predecessor and
was the second model of the 'all Australian car' manufactured by Holden. The FJ sedan was
manufactured in Standard, Business and Special trim levels. A coupe utility was announced
in October 1953 which was followed by a Panel van derivative in December of that year.
